It was an off day for the tortoiseshell she-cat. Her eyes seemed to be lost in thought while the rest of her paced across the beach and back. The water on her paws felt nice and cooling while the sand felt soft and squishy. The sun seemed to have not reached the center of the sky yet; it was still morning. The water was clear that day and little to no seaweed clung to the shore. It was days like these that the she-cat liked. Everything was calm and the drama of whatever happened the day before seemed like a mere memory.
It wasn't hard to forget her troubles here on the beach. The only thing left for her to do was eat. White birds flocked all around her but they tasted nasty. Fishing was incredibly hard for the she-cat so she resorted to catching mice and voles, the odd bird and sometimes a squirrel or rabbit. She regained her happy-like composure and stood in the salty water as it moved in and out of the sea. Today will be a good day. She thought to herself. Today will be a good day. She repeated it again in her head. "Today will be a good day." She mewed out loud so she could hear it.
Satisfied that 'today was going to be a good day', the she-cat sat down in the water. At first she was fine till she had realized what she had done. With a shriek, she jumped up out of the water and wet sand and stood there with her bottom end soaked in sea water and sand. She was never afraid of the water but she was afraid of looking like a drown sparrow. She shook herself off in an attempt to get rid of the gross feeling sand. It made everything worse though, and she was now completely covered.
"Great, just great." She mewed in frustration.

shadows moved through the trees, and glints of bright yellow eyes glowed in the darkness. but whatever was moving had not noticed the pretty young she-cat, standing out in the sand, gazing out. it seemed to be mroe intent on what he was stalking. a very plump, very large wild rabbit. the stupid, oblivous rabbit was sifting through the thick grass, unbenownst to the large muscular tom stalking it. he was very large, and very hard to look at. with his menacing gaze. and his rippling dark brown and black pelt all dusty and tangled made him look like an outsider, unknown to the land.
as he leapt for the kill, his teeth connecting into the rabbits neck. he realised there was another cat around him. perhaps a she-cat, as he inhaled the scent. he carried the heavy rabbit out of the trees, and shadow, and emerging into the light. the sun had not yet risen fully and so the dimmer light still contained the gorgeous she-cat standing at the seaside. letting his prey drop with a soft thud and watching her with a renewed interest. so soon as he had done that her rump had been planted in the wet sand, cold icy water lapping at her. she had realised it, obviously, as she had suddenly leapt up with a shriek of shock and took off a little ways down the bank.
he let out a sharp, loud cry of amusement, a laugh. a loud mew. whatever you would enjoy calling it. his eyes danced with mischevious laughter, and his ears were twitching. tail lashing with the increased interest in her. he did not realise that she would be a very rude, interesting, and very amusing she-cat. and something between them would click. whether love, hate or in between, not even the sand knew. Blair, the she-cat, was now covered in sand while half of her was damp from the water. To top it all off someone had been watching her and now was laughing. At first she ignored it as she was more concerned with her now sandy and wet pelt. But when it fully clicked that someone had seen the whole thing she suddenly felt embarrassed and angered. She tried to shake herself off again only to make to worse once more. Her fur was sticking up all over the place and sane still clung to her. It would take awhile for her to get it all out and this did not please her on bit. She suddenly missed her home and her daily baths from the two-legs. But that was gone now and she was still partly grateful for it. She was better on her own anyways.
Blair turned around to look for the one who was laughing. I'll give them something to laugh about! She thought to herself. She was not surprised at all to notice 'them' was a tom. Wasn't it a typical tom thing to do, laugh when a she-cat was in distress? Blair believed so. With an anger she tried so desperately to contain for just this one day, Blair made her way furiously towards the dark tom. "What gives you the right to think you can laugh at me? Her mew was filled with malevolence. She was overly defensive when it came to someone laughing at her. She barely laughed at herself so she wasn't about to let just any old tom laugh at her.
Her tail was lashing back and forward in irritation. She could still hear his annoying laugh in her head. Already she didn't like this tom and they have never even met. She wondered, quickly, if the life of a stray was really worth it. Some cats were mean and violent while others just preferred to be on their own. Blair, however, liked the company of others and often will attempt to make friends with even the most withdrawn of cats; if she believes they have potential. But as for this tom, Blair wished he would have never seen her.

As he laughed, he noticed that sh had not yet noticed him. amusement still glittered in his eyes, and he watched her, taking pawsteps forewards. but when she fully realised he had laughed at her, she seemed to whirl on him, fury steaming off her in waves. She tried to shake herself off again, but only cause more clumps to build. She needed help, but he wasn't all that interested in helping her. She seemed to important to do that. Yes, he was just that type of cat. He laughed once more, and moved closer to her, teasing her.
The annoyance and embarassment flashing in her eyes almost told a sentance itself. But he ignored it, and instead leaned down, inches from her own face. His eyes glinting mischeviously, he flicked his tail and twitched his ears, awaiting her response. "What gives you the right to think you can laugh at me?" she had snarled at him. He winked slightly and let out a guffaw of sound, his voice erupting. "Everything, my dear. You ae just to funny and gorgeous to resist.." he rumbled, his bright yellow eyes watching her, taking in her features.
With her lashing tail, and irritated look, he suspected he had annoyed her crucially. Wishes flooded her gaze, of memory, and the future. But when her gaze looked at him again. He saw something flicker in their depths, and he instead took a slight step back. He yawned sarcastically and lashed his tail sharply, thinking of something to annoy her again. "Are you hungry? There's a measly old rabbit there that might satisfy your.. needs.." he wrinkled his nose in disgust and walked away, leaving his prey for her. [/size]

She glared at the tom with her amber eyes. He was not allowed to laugh at her and then call her gorgeous after. What was wrong with this tom? She had known him for barely a few minutes. Actually she still had no idea who he was. A name hadn't came out of his mouth at all since he had been there. A former introduction would have been nice! She thought to herself. He eyes never left his. She was in awe for a moment at how beautiful his bright yellow eyes were. And just for that moment, too, she forgot about what had just happened.
Shaking her head back into reality she watched him leave, not taking his rabbit with him. "Wait!" She mewed after him. Blair was about to follow the tom but stopped before the rabbit and looked at it. With hesitation she grabbed the prey and bounded after the tom. She was hungry and the taste of the rabbit in her mouth made her want to eat the whole thing now. But it wasn't hers to take. Besides, she could catch her own prey! Blair felt as if this tom was purposely being rude and she couldn't figure out why.
"I don't want this." Blair tired to say through the rabbit. But she did want it. She was hungry and any cat would have just taken it and ran but Blair was curious about this tom. He made her think and want more, but she wasn't about to admit it.

he stopped, looked at her and smirked once again, this time with interest. she was fuming when he had teased her, and he was not about to say sorry. nor say anything about his name. time would come before he did. but, still as he thought, her sweet scent and sparky attitude made him stop, after he had deserted her. his ears twitching, and looking over the fact she had glared at him, and had such an air about her that it was suffocating. but he didn't agree with her, and never thought he would.
her call of haltingness brought him to a halt all that much faster, as he turned to look at her, gaze into her amazing depths once again, he lifted his head abruptly when she had brought the rabbit with her. hunger glinted in her eyes, but she seemed to be refusing it. he laughed slightly and put out a paw, batting her away slightly. "i'm not scared to let you eat it, princess. i'd much rather have a pretty she-cat like you eat it. i'm not hungry anyways. it was a free kill." he rumbled, looking very amused with her, and himself. yes, he was purposely being rude. yes he enjoyed every moment of her anger. yes, he was that sort of tom, and he adored being that way. like his brother would say, or rather stare. you are such a mouse-brained piece of fox-dung. did he care? oh no.
a muffled new of retortion at his interest at leaving her prey made his eyes harden in now what was called annoyance. but her eyes told her she despriately wanted it, but she didn't at the same time. he tilted his head away from, nose twitching like she was something digusting. "oh come on. no cat would look down upon a piece of freshkill. eat it. but theirs more. you want more about me. well guess what princess, this is about all you're going to know." he mewed, sounding dangerously close to anger. She dropped the rabbit and glared at the tom again. Did he think she was incapable of catching her own? "I can catch my own prey thank you." Her mew was filled with hate and anger. Did she really look like those prissy house cats? She had been on her own for about three months now and definitely didn't consider herself the same as before. Her eyes burned with hate or maybe that was just the color of them? They were a dark amber and sometimes looked like a flame. Or was it the fact that Blair had mastered her evil glare perfectly? Sure it didn't scare everyone but it gave them a perfect idea of how she was feeling.
His change in emotion didn't phase Blair much. Her house folk had done the same thing when they got upset. They always seemed to take it out on the cats. But it didn't matter since they were long gone. Sure they treated her family and her well but once they lost their house and money everything seemed to change. Blair didn't like it and left. The outside world was cold and unwelcoming. She didn't like it at first but after awhile she grew into the smarter she-cat she is today.
"If I catch my own prey right now will you take your flea covered rabbit back?" Her voice was a mix of anger but also challenging. She knew she could do it and wanted to prove to the tom that she wasn't about to let someone else feed her.
